Analysis Notes

General Only pages 14/15, 21-24, 27-28, and 30:2 are dealt with here.  Only the heroes specifically tasked to deal with Daxam are tracked.
14/15:1 All twenty-nine cast members (including the Thunderbolt) are seen here, plus the Shining Knight’s horse, Winged Victory.  The speaker is The Patriot.
14/15:3 The invasion Power Girl mentions was Invasion, of course.
Daxamites are probably more powerful that Power Girl, actually, since there were seen there to be more powerful than Superman, and she is certainly a notch below him.
16:1 Ray is the son of the original Ray.  Damage is the son of the original Atom with DNA infusions from many members of the JSA, All-Star Squadron, and Justice League of America, with the result being a variety of powers including explosive ones mimicking those of the Human Bomb.  Iron Munro is the sole remaining active member of the Young All-Stars.  The Patriot is a robot body housing the spirit of American patriotism (or some such claptrap); that is, he’s Uncle Sam, created when Uncle Sam was being used by DC’s Vertigo imprint.  Phantom Lady is the protégé of the original Phantom Lady, Sandra Knight.  Black Condor is no direct relation to the original Black Condor, but the ghost of the original was a spirit guide for a friend of the current Condor.  Note that this group is thus, except for Iron Munro, the current versions of the Freedom Fighters.  (It isn’t clear what role the Freedom Fighters may have played, post-Crisis; in the previous continuity, they were assembled by Uncle Sam from the Earth-2 All-Star Squadron and went to Earth-X where they spent 30-odd years fighting the Nazis of that world until they finally won the war, at which point they came to Earth-1.  (Talk about convoluted backstory!)
21:2 The conduits are covered with energy discharges, but they have not been colored properly, so the conduits end up looking like crumbling columns.
22:1 While the original Phantom Lady used a black light device to create shadows — a prototype of Shadow Lass, if you will — this one is able to go intangible, riffing on Phantom Girl instead.
22:4 “Insecticons” is a reference to the Transformers toys.
24:1 As seen later, Ray is partly energy in his powered up state, which is what will save him.
With twenty-nine cats members, a major task, and the JSA’s tendency to have members killed during crossover events, it looked like a sure bet that several would die here — especially bad designs and poor legacies like Patriot and Vigilante —but this issue was meant to break that strong.  (It fails, though: one member of the JSA isn’t present in this story: Queen Hippolyta.  Guess who dies in this year’s crossover?  The JSA curse lives on.)
28:3 Dialogue is from Damage.
28:4 This is The Patriot, Damage, and Iron Munro.
