Analysis Notes

General Only page 6 is dealt with here.
6:1 As explained on page 5, Matt O’Dare has a soul which has long been associated with Opal City and reincarnated multiple times, most significantly in the 19th century as Brain Savage, Scalphunter.
6:4 This would seem to confirm that “Thom” is pronounced “Tom” (as if it were an abbreviated form of “Thomas”) rather than the “th” as in “that”.
Danny Blaine is the Starman seen in Kingdom Come, although whether his 21st century existence will be part of the mainstream DC continuity or only that limited fragment of Hypertime remains to be seen.  (Then again, Kingdom Come characters have been seen in the mainline DC universe on a couple occasions: in the “Chain Lightning” story in The Flash and “Who is Troia?” in The Titans, to name two occasions.)
This future reincarnation of Matt as Star Boy helps to explain Jack and Mikaal’s visit to the 30th century (Starman v2 #49-50) and the connections between Xanthu and the Starman legacy mentioned there.
The doctor ion the background is berating the Shade for giving Matt a cigarette.
