Analysis Notes
| Cover |
As indicated in the letters column, the cover of this issue was inspired by that of Detective Comics #345, drawn by Carmine Infantino. |
| General |
Only pages 19:5-22 are dealt with here. |
| 19:5 |
As will be seen in Impulse #64, this is Inertia rather than Impulse. Craydl must have access to whatever pocket dimension serves to hold the Mudbug. |
| 20:3 |
Note the discomfort Inertia has with the hug. He has never received such attention before. Hell be able to do a credible job of imitating Bart due to having thoroughly studied Impulses life, but the emotional connection has to be learned directly. |
| 20:4, 20:6 |
In 14:1, Morlo begins to refer to the Mudbug as Dar
. It was undoubtedly either his wife/girlfriend (Darlene) or an assistant (Darby), changed into this form by an experiment gone awry. Without telling anyone, Morlo presumably devotes the bulk of his time to trying to find a cure. (This has echoes of the Superman/Mon-El and Sandman/Sandy the Golden Boy scenarios.) |
| 21:1 |
There is an underplayed bit of strength added to speedsters by the Speed Force, apparently, if Bart is able to carry Max home. |
| 21:6 |
Matt < > is apparently Helens new love interest. |
| 21:7-8 |
Dogs can always smell evil! |
| 21:8 |
The thing in Matts ear is a hearing aid. No idea if the apparent partial deafness is caused by his contracting work, or if it predates it. |
| 22:4 |
Da-dum! This isnt Bart, this is Barts evil twin! |
