Analysis Notes
| General |
This story could arguably occur at just about any point in XS life. We will place it as occurring more or less when it was published, with respect to XS other appearances, and thus immediately prior to her appearances in the Chain Lightning storyline in The Flash. |
| 62:1 |
In The Flash #149, the version of the Flash Museum from circa 2958 was seen, in much better shape than this. The museum was obviously buried for neither 800 nor 1000 years, but was instead damaged much more recently probably during the EarthGov/Dominator plot which resulted in the deaths of the Tornado Twins, less than 20 years before this story. |
| The broken statue to the far left is unidentifiable (but was probably Flash I, Jay Garrick). Next to it is Johnny Quick. The main Flash statue is Flash III (Wally West), and the headless one behind it is, based on the head on the ground, Kid Flash I (also Wally West). |
| 62:3 |
None of these artifacts are particularly notable. The picture in the background is of Jay Garrick and either Barry or Wally (probably Barry). |
| 63:1 |
Her highness? That is sure to embarrass Jenni, but she maybe be used to the terminology from Dexter and Myles by now. |
| Dexter and Myles are named after Dexter Myles, the Shakesperean actor/curator of the 20th century Flash Museum. Dexter Myles also has a handlebar moustache. |
| 64:1 |
If Wally were in his 70s in 2054, then he would have been between 15 and 25 in 1999. It is doubtful that Wally is any younger than the top end of that age range. It is more likely that this is one of Iris or Barry Wests children. |
| While the chip is apparently dated 2054, there are enough other inconsistencies with Dexter and Myles knowledge to put even that date in question. Well take it as correct, however. |
| 64:4 |
XS has only seen Wally human, which this Flash apparently is not. |
| 65:3 |
Coloring error: the orange balloon should be yellow, and vice versa. |
| 65:4 |
Inescapable conclusions from mere hints? Hmm, sounds like these analyses. (Ahem.) |
| 66:1 |
Myles analysis here is a reasonable extension from the Kingdom Come version of Flash III that weve seen. |
| 66:2 |
Well presume that this is Central City, circa 2054. Where else would the Rogues (or someone using their equipment) attack, after all? |
| 66:3 |
Jay being Jay Garrick, the first Flash. |
| 66:4 |
Based on the word balloon, this should be Myles, but Dexter is pictured. |
| 67:3 |
Whether this is or is not Wally West is intentionally left ambiguous. (That tends to be safer when discussing future continuity, making it harder for such things to be retconned, but also easier to ignore them if need be.) |
| 67:4 |
The members of the Rogues Gallery here are (back row) Gorilla Grodd, Abra Kadabra, Captain Cold, (middle row) Mirror Master II, Top II, Heat Wave, (front row) Weather Wizard, Captain Boomerang, and Doc Friction. Top II and Doc Friction are new characters; the original Top died fighting Barry Allen, and this ones appearance is different (and he may be Asian). |
| Heat Wave reformed while Barry Allen was still alive, and eventually took a position at the Cadmus Project. The Heat Wave here may be a second villain assuming that identity. |
| 68:1 |
If Myles commentary is correct, then all the previous Rogues are dead by the year 2054 (which makes a certain amount of sense: most of them were peers of Barry Allen, which would put them 10 or more years older than Wally West, or into their 90s; the life of a superhero or supervillain is not one that will tend to last into old age). This would allow for the reformed Heat Waves inclusion among the Rogues. |
| 68:5 |
The depicted action here is of the Mega-Rogue using one of Mirror Master IIs weapons to transform Flash back into human form, giving the lie to the accuracy of Myles narration. |
| 69:2 |
A place outside of space and time would presumably be Limbo, but could refer to the Speed Force. |
| 70:1 |
Note that Dexter says that Myles abuse feels that way, as opposed to seems that way, which means that Dexter acknowledges it as abuse, too. |
| The statue in the foreground is Kid Flash I, the one next to XS is Flash III, and the female one in the background is Sela Allen. The one in the far background, seen below Dexter, cannot be identified. |
| 71:3 |
And a boomerang of mirrors, does that always come back? Does it come back in reverse? |
