UPDATE (August 1, 2022): I have decided to put the Northwest Leather Calendar on hiatus at the end of this month.  The last update will be Tuesday, August 24.  If someone wants to take over the Calendar, please contact me at calendar@soundskinky.com.
The current week’s worth of the following information is sent out via e-mail on a weekly basis to a number of mailing lists (SML-infoand SeattleLeatherMen) and to a few individuals who repackage it for other lists.  If you know of a mailing list which would welcome this weekly message, or if you would like to receive and individual copy by e-mail, please contact us.
Are you seeing this embedded on another site, maybe in a small frame?  Click here to go directly to the full page.
This information is aimed especially at the Seattle gay male leather community, but covers events throughout the greater Pacific Northwest region which may be of interest to other segments of the leather community as well.
For details on what this means, click here.
Events produced by Seattle Men in Leather (and which qualify for Club Colors) are in bold.

Private location on Capitol Hill (Seattle), 6:30–9:30 pm
Info: https://seattleleather.org/events-lite/rope-lab/
Rope Tops register here (must bring tying partner; limit of 20 rope pairs)
RopeLab Seattle is a collaborative men’s rope bondage community for experienced rope riggers to workshop and practice rope techniques.  This is a space for gay and bisexual men, transmen, and other male presenting people to participate in ropework peer-learning skillshare.  There is no evaluation/requirement for proof of skill level.  If you feel you have the necessary skills to participate, you are encouraged to attend.  However, the focus of RopeLab Seattle will always highlight the needs of our community’s advanced riggers — RopeLab Seattle is not the place to learn your first knots, but once you have those down (having learned them at one of many great events such as Men Tying Men or a ropes class facilitated by SLSC) you are encouraged and welcome to join RopeLab Seattle. Each RopeLab begins with a welcome and introduction to the evening’s topic/theme often accompanied by a photo slideshow highlighting a variety of methods or approaches to the theme/topic.  Participants are encouraged to dialogue about these approaches and share examples of things they have tried, or want to try.  After a short discussion, participants are encouraged to form small groups around specific interests related to the theme and then begin roping.  This is very much a collaborative educational learning/workshop space and not a play party.  Participants are encouraged to wander around the space to see other approaches to the topic/theme and engage in discussion.  It is encouraged to swap/rotate your tying partner throughout the event to provide a variety of body types to practice on; however, we understand that some people may not be comfortable with a different tying partner, and that should be respected.  Sessions are capped at 10 rope pairs.  Rope riggers are required to RSVP online and sign up their tying partner.  If you do not have a rope bottom/model, reach out to the RopeLab Seattle message boards/server.  All participants will be required to sign a digital waiver form at the beginning of each session.  Rope tops should wear comfortable clothes such as jeans and T-shirt, or athletic clothing.  Rope tops are required to bring their own ropes, equipment, and yoga mat (if required).  Rope bottoms should avoid loose or bulky clothing.  For the ease of tying, rope bottoms are encouraged to wear snug-fitting clothing, shorts, or underwear only.
What is the mission of RopeLab Seattle?
• Elevating male* rope bondage practitioners roping on the masculine form
• Providing collaborative educational spaces for intermediate-advanced male* ropers, grounded in peer-learning and skillshare
•  Providing informal pedagogical experiences that decentralize “expertise” and invite ropers to develop their voice, skillsets, and identities as active riggers and rope educators

Our August Run, we’ll be hitting the Squamish Valley Campground along the Squamish River in BC, set between Whistler and Squamish.  This private campground offers group camping next to a sandy beach along the river.  I’m not going to say anything about day rides, as the roads in the area are limited, but provides us opportunities to head on out to Whistler or Lillooet.  The campsite is approximately 371 miles from Portland and 198 miles from Seattle, but well worth the effort to spend time in British Columbia during August.  You should not miss this one.

Notes:
1) Please wear bar-friendly gear.  Tail plugs are ok.
2) This will be a strictly 18+ event.
3) Please refrain from heavier BDSM and sexual play.  While we are all adults, not everyone is comfortable seeing that and you never know who may be tuning in on their lunch break.  Fetish gear, restraints, and light play are okay.
4) While we love squeaky toys and barks and howls, please be mindful of getting them too close to your mics.
You will need to be fully vaccinated to enter the Eagle.  They will need to see your vaccination card unless they have already recorded that information.  Remember: if you have an issue with the behavior of any patron, especially when it comes to unwelcome touch or sexual advances, please come find one of the board members!  We want to address any issues before they become a problem, and we want our events to be safe for you, our members!

PansexualMAsT: South Sound
Deoursey Park (2101 7th Ave. SW, Puyallup), 7:00–9:00 pm
About MAsT South Sound: We are an inclusive and integrated group and would love for you to come talk with us about the fundamentals of healthy power dynamics.  We won’t pretend to know the answers, but instead offer a starting point for discussion in the hopes that we may all reach greater personal and relationship growth.  All types, statuses, labels and identifiers welcome!  After MAsT: Sometimes the conversation is so good that we want to keep it going!  Develop deeper connections and relationships and enjoy further discussion over dinner.  Location: To be announced after meeting.
This month: On behalf of Master Venator and our members, we are excited to invite you back to the park for a lively and inspiring discussion based on the topic list we created last month.  Our topic is the myth of One True Way!  We want to hear how you have designed your Dynamic to suit the specific needs of the folx in the Dynamic, or when things change how have you gone back to the drawing board and redesigned it?  I have heard so many stories of seeing breath-taking photos of the perfect power exchange moment.  Reading a story that gave a charge, seeing the elegance of others at a conference, or hearing of friend’s new protocols or rituals and loving the idea but when tried it didn’t work out for those testing it out.  Let’s bust down that myth of a one true way of participating in Master/slave, Owner/property, or Dominant/submissive Dynamics and share with each other what works for us!  Some thoughts we had begun to discuss that support custom designing or redesigning Dynamics were the differences between sexual and nonsexual, the differences between romantic and nonromantic, live in and long distance, honoring the varied spectrum of ability and when that changes, polyamory or monogamy, whether kids or family live in the home, and neurodivergence.

Private location near Oregon City, OR / Sold Out (message lthrmencampout@gmail.com to join the wait list)
Pacific Northwest Leathermen’s Campout (PNWLC) is a weekend camping retreat held each Fall in the Portland area.  Located on a private, secluded 15-acre forested property east of Oregon City, OR, the site is roughly 25 minutes south of Portland International Airport, an hour north of Salem and 45 minutes Southeast of Hillsboro.  We strive to promote education and community-building among all male-identifying persons in the Pacific Northwest area.  This is a clothing-optional event where male-identifying (regardless of gender assigned at birth) persons who are 21+ years old can explore and enjoy a range of leather, kink, fetish, BDSM activities and classes.  Our aim is to build strong community bonds through learning, socializing, and play between all ages and experience levels.  We foster a welcoming, safe, sane, consensual, and sex-positive environment.  Body diversity is welcome at this event as men come in all shapes and sizes.
PNWLC will provide Saturday and Sunday continental style breakfast along with coffee, juice, and milk as well as weekend snacks during the event.  Lunch, dinner, and beverages are the responsibility of the attendees (bring your own beverage and food; however, there will be an optional pre-order/pre-pay $5/bag per meal/per day food menu courtesy of the volunteer Catering Committee).   As a way to help build the community, give a sense of involvement and contribution, every attendee (including all PNWLC Committee members) is being asked to participate in a minimum of one chore shift during the PNWLC event.  All of the PNWLC Committee pays the full registration fee and we are all volunteers.  In order to make the weekend work smoothly, everyone is required to help out for at least 2 hours during the event.

CC’s Seattle (1701 E Olive Way, Seattle), 3:00 pm
Washington State Leather Organization is now hosting a monthly Community Social.  Come join us every 2nd Saturday of each month at CC’s Seattle. Our goal is to get all Washington State Organizations (Leather, Drag, Bears, Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, and more) back to our roots of supporting each other, as well as networking, especially with the current climate of things going on in our country and the Supreme Court.  With summer upon us, we expect that many organizations will be holding events and or fundraisers, so let’s provide cross support for our local organizations and what they have coming up.  This event does not have a dress code, but we do encourage you to dress to represent your organization.  Feel free to invite anyone you like, because this event is open to the community.  Please remember that this is a 21 & over event.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Leather Flag line
This information is aimed especially at the Seattle gay male leather community.  Some events are included which might be seen as non-gay, non-male, and/or non-leather; they are included due to the perceived breadth of people who may visit this web page and the crossover nature of events of those types with the gay male leather community.
About Out-of-Town Events: These events are listed below a green line for each date, and include both events throughout the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and British Columbia) and larger-scope national events (especially those which will be attended by some members of Seattle Men in Leather).  For out-of-Seattle events, we typically only list the most prominent ones (socials, board meetings, and the like).  Activity listings for those groups and those regions may provide a broader listings of events.
About Bear, Rodeo, CW Dance, etc., Events: As above, we pick and choose which of these events to include.  All Seattle-area events are included, but only prominent regional and national events are listed.  (As a rule of thumb, we list board meetings and events at leather bars, but not munches, non-leather dances, etc.)  Activity listings for those groups and those regions may provide a broader listings of events.
About Pansexual and Workshop Events: Also included in the calendar are a selection of events primarily aimed at the kinky straight or pansexual community, but appropriate for or welcoming of gay male (and GLBTQ) leatherfolk. Typically, these are workshops which are not specifically heterosexually themed, but a few play parties and weekend events are also included where appropriate. Keeping in mind the gay male leather intent behind this calendar, we list events which have an obvious attraction for and are clearly welcoming of the gay male leather crowd.  (Many “pansexual” events really have nothing to recommend them to gay male leatherfolk: we might not be turned away, but why would we attend?)  Decisions about what to list are informed by the text and imagery of websites and event announcements; if you feel that your event truly should be of interest to gay male leatherfolk and is not currently being listed, please contact us (and check the text and imagery you make available).

Send your event details to us. We will try to list all leather/fetish events expected to be of interest to the GLBTQ leather community, including both one-time events and recurring ones.  Include the event name, date, time, location, cost for the event, and contact info, plus a short description if available.  Deadline for sending items to be included in the weekly e-mail version of the calendar is Monday at 6:00 pm (Pacific time).  Items and corrections provided at other times will be inserted into the online calendar as they are received (and as we have time).
Disclaimer #1: SoundsKinky is not responsible for either the events listed here nor for the accuracy of the information included.  We apologize if we fail to include your event, but we’re only human.  Sometimes events, vacations, work, and life get in the way.  And you darn well better get it to us before the deadline if you want it in the listings!
Disclaimer #2: Seattle Men in Leather (SML) includes events from other organizations on this list as a service to the community.  Only events which are specifically hosted by Seattle Men in Leather qualify for the SML activity rewards program.
